Custom Book Production Based on Your Specifications
Pagebrio Printing supports custom and OEM children’s book production for publishers, educational companies, children’s brands, importers, distributors and project buyers. We manufacture board books, hardcover books, softcover books, spiral books, coloring books, puzzle books, photo books and comic books according to buyer-supplied artwork and approved specifications.
A custom project can begin with print-ready PDF files, a technical specification sheet, an approved physical sample or a reference book. Before quotation, we review the proposed trim size, page count, paper or board, cover structure, binding, printing colors, finishing, packaging, quantity per title and destination. This review helps identify production constraints before proofing or material purchasing begins.
Our service is intended for project-based and bulk orders rather than retail single-copy printing. Standard projects normally start from approximately 500–1,000 copies per title. Board books, special structures and highly customized projects may require approximately 1,000–3,000 copies, depending on materials, construction and finishing.
Artwork, Size and Page Configuration
Print-ready PDF files are preferred for production. During prepress review, we check the finished size, bleed, page sequence, image resolution, fonts, spine information and CMYK or Pantone color setup. Files containing die-cut shapes, foil, spot UV, embossing or other special processes should include clearly identified production layers or reference drawings.
Custom size is available, but the finished dimensions should be evaluated together with page count, paper thickness and binding. These details affect sheet utilization, spine width, cover construction, production cost and carton size. Buyers preparing a new title can review our Artwork, Size & Page Setup requirements before submitting files.
Publisher logos, brand marks, copyright pages, ISBNs, barcodes and other buyer information can be included in the supplied artwork. For branded educational or promotional projects, logos may also be applied to book covers, retail packaging and carton marks. This is handled as part of the complete book specification rather than as a separate logo-printing process.
Paper, Board and Material Selection
Material selection should match the book format, intended use, illustration density and binding structure. Available options can include coated art paper, wood-free paper, ivory board, grey board, kraft paper, cardboard and selected specialty papers in different GSM or thickness ranges.
Board books require attention to board thickness, mounting, lamination, corner treatment and opening performance. Coloring books need a paper surface suitable for the intended pencils, crayons or other media. Image-led books usually require closer control of paper surface, opacity and color reproduction. Hardcover projects also require confirmation of cover board, wrapping material, endpapers and text paper.
The Paper & Board Options page explains how material choices affect appearance, durability, binding, unit cost and shipment weight. FSC-certified paper can be arranged when required, subject to the selected stock, availability, order quantity and supporting documentation.
Binding, Structure and Custom Finishing
Binding is selected according to the book’s page count, paper thickness, opening behavior, durability and target cost. Supported structures include board-book mounting, case binding, perfect binding, saddle stitching, sewn binding and spiral binding.
Special construction can include rounded corners, die-cut pages, flaps, inserts and approved custom-shaped elements. Surface options can include gloss or matte lamination, foil stamping, spot UV, embossing and debossing. Each additional process affects artwork preparation, sampling requirements, production sequence and lead time.
Complex structures should be confirmed using drawings, a reference book, a white dummy or a physical printed sample. Feasibility is reviewed before quotation because die cutting, manual assembly, special materials and multiple finishing processes may change the MOQ and production schedule.
Proofing and Pre-Production Approval
Proofing confirms files, colors, materials and construction before bulk production. Digital proofs normally take approximately 2–4 working days and are mainly used to check content, page order and layout. Standard physical samples normally take approximately 5–10 working days, while board books, custom die-cut structures or projects with multiple finishes may require longer.
A physical sample is recommended when paper feel, board thickness, cover construction, color reference or finishing position is important. Sample cost and timing are calculated from the actual specification. Bulk production begins only after the artwork, specification and required proof or sample have been approved.
Standard mass production normally takes approximately 25–40 days after approval. Complex books or peak-season orders may require approximately 40–50 days. Buyers can compare available confirmation methods on the Proofing & Sample Approval page.
Quality Control During Bulk Production
The approved specification and sample provide the reference for mass production. Control points can include paper and board verification, printing registration, color comparison, page sequence, binding, cover alignment, lamination, foil position, die-cut edges, rounded corners, finished size and overall appearance.
Interactive or child-focused structures receive checks appropriate to their construction. Child-related material or finished-product testing can be arranged according to the product design and destination-market requirements. EN71, CPSIA, REACH or other compliance should only be claimed for materials or finished items that have actually been tested.
Custom Packaging and Export Delivery
Packaging can be adapted to the product format and buyer’s distribution requirements. Options include individual bags, shrink wrapping, paper wrapping, book-set packing, custom retail packs, export cartons, buyer carton marks and pallets.
Before packing, we confirm the packing method, quantity per carton, required labels, carton marks and destination details. Finished books are inspected and counted before shipment preparation. EXW, FOB, CFR, CIF and DDP terms can be reviewed according to order size and destination, with Ningbo-Zhoushan or Shanghai used according to the shipment schedule.
