Custom Printing for Project-Based Book Orders

Pagebrio Printing manufactures custom children’s books for publishers, educational companies, children’s brands, importers, distributors and project buyers. Each order is produced according to an approved specification rather than selected from a standard inventory.

We print board books, hardcover books, softcover books, spiral books, coloring books, puzzle books, photo books and comic books. Projects can begin with print-ready PDF files, technical specifications, an approved physical sample or a reference book showing the required construction.

Before quotation, we review the book type, finished size, page count, paper or board, cover structure, binding, printing colors, finishing, quantity, packaging and destination. This technical review helps identify practical production options and potential issues before sampling or material purchasing begins.

Artwork and Book Specification Review

Print-ready PDF files are preferred. Our prepress review covers trim size, bleed, page order, image resolution, fonts, spine information and CMYK or Pantone color setup. Files requiring foil stamping, spot UV, embossing, debossing or die cutting should include separate production layers or clearly marked drawings.

Custom dimensions must be considered together with page count, paper thickness and binding. These details affect spine width, sheet utilization, opening behavior, carton size and unit cost. Publisher logos, copyright details, ISBNs, barcodes and brand information can be incorporated into the supplied artwork. We do not treat a custom book as a standard product with a logo added afterward; the complete artwork and construction are confirmed as one production specification.

Materials, Binding and Finishing

Material selection depends on the book format and intended use. Options can include coated art paper, wood-free paper, ivory board, grey board, kraft paper, cardboard and selected specialty papers. Paper surface, GSM, thickness, opacity and stiffness can affect color reproduction, writing performance, durability and freight weight.

Binding options include board-book mounting, case binding, perfect binding, saddle stitching, sewn binding and spiral binding. The correct structure depends on page count, paper thickness, required durability, flat-opening needs and target cost. Approved finishing can include gloss or matte lamination, foil stamping, spot UV, embossing, debossing, die cutting and rounded corners. Complex structures, flaps or inserts require additional feasibility review and normally benefit from physical sample approval.

Proofing and Pre-Production Approval

Digital proofs are used mainly to review content, layout and page sequence. They normally take approximately 2–4 working days. Standard physical samples normally require approximately 5–10 working days, while board books, custom die-cut structures or projects with multiple finishes may take longer.

A physical sample is recommended when paper feel, board thickness, binding, color or finishing position is important. Sample cost is calculated from the actual specification because materials, tooling and production processes vary between projects.

MOQ, Production and Quality Control

Standard custom book projects normally start from approximately 500–1,000 copies per title. Board books, special structures and highly customized projects may require approximately 1,000–3,000 copies. Final MOQ depends on size, materials, binding, finishing and production method.

Standard mass production normally takes approximately 25–40 days after approval. Complex structures or peak-season orders may require approximately 40–50 days.

Quality checkpoints can include material verification, printing registration, color comparison, page sequence, binding, finished size, cover alignment, special finishing, appearance and packing. The approved file, specification and physical sample provide the production reference.

Packaging and Quotation Information

Packaging options include individual bags, shrink wrapping, paper wrapping, book-set boxes, retail packs, export cartons, buyer carton marks and pallets. Packaging requirements should be confirmed before quotation because they affect carton dimensions, shipment volume and total cost.
